Activision confirms data breach after Employee fell victim to SMS Phishing

Wow! Activision, the popular video game maker, has confirmed a data breach that occurred in December 2022. Hackers gained access to the company’s internal systems through an SMS phishing text, but fortunately, no game source code or player details were compromised.

However, security researchers say that sensitive workplace documents were exfiltrated, including employee details such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers, salaries, and work locations. It’s alarming to know that the hacked employee was from the Human Resources department, with access to sensitive employee details.
