A cyberattack at a university in Victoria stole some of the most recent test scores and roughly 47,000 students’ contact information, both present and former.
The hacker gained access to a staff member’s account, password, and data stored by a third-party supplier, which led to the incident at Deakin University.
The institution stated that it learned of the incident on Sunday and had previously sent texts to students via the third-party service.
A text message was sent to 9997 students as a result of the breach claiming to have a package ready and asking for money for special delivery.
The hacker obtained names, student IDs, cellphone numbers, email addresses, and comments with the most recent unit results from 46,980 present and past Deakin students.
