Physical Penetration Testing Services
Australia
Your cyber security is only as strong as your physical security. If an attacker can walk into your office,
plug into your network, or access your server room, no amount of firewalls or endpoint protection will
stop them. Intrix’s physical penetration testing evaluates whether your premises, people, and
processes can withstand a determined intruder.
What Is Physical Penetration Testing?
Physical penetration testing simulates a real-world attempt to breach your organisation’s physical security controls. Our testers attempt to gain unauthorised access to your buildings, restricted areas, server rooms, and sensitive locations using the same techniques employed by corporate spies, disgruntled insiders, and social engineers.
This is not a compliance checkbox exercise. We use real-world tradecraft including tailgating, badge cloning, lock picking, social engineering, and pretexting to test whether your physical security measures actually work under pressure.

What Our Physical Penetration Testing Covers
Access Control Systems
Badge readers, biometric scanners, PIN pads, etc
Tailgating & Piggybacking
Following authorised employees through secured doors.
Social Engineering
Pretexting as delivery drivers, contractors, or new
Badge Cloning
Copying RFID/NFC access cards to test credential security.
Perimeter Security
Fencing, gates, loading docks, emergency exits.
Sensitive Area Access
Server rooms, comms closets, executive floors, data centres.
Dumpster Diving
Reviewing waste for sensitive information.
Clean Desk Assessment
Checking for exposed credentials, sensitive documents, unlocked devices.
hy Physical Penetration Testing Matters
Our testers carry authorisation documentation at all times and will identify themselves immediately if challenged by security personnel or law enforcement. We establish a clear escalation process with your team
before testing begins.

60% of data breaches involve an insider or physical access component
Physical access to a network port bypasses most perimeter security controls
Compliance frameworks including ISO 27001 (Annex A.7) and APRA CPS 234 require physical security controls
Remote work has reduced security awareness — employees are less likely to challenge unfamiliar faces
Social engineering combined with physical access is the highest-impact attack vector

Frequently Asked Questions
How is physical penetration testing different from a security audit?
Physical penetration testing actively attempts to bypass your physical security controls in person, while a security audit only reviews your policies and documented controls on paper. The two are complementary, an audit tells you what controls exist, a physical penetration test tells you whether they actually stop a real intrusion attempt.
How much does physical penetration testing cost?
Pricing depends on the number of sites, the scope of testing, and whether social engineering and badge cloning are included. Most single-site engagements are quoted after a short scoping call so the price reflects your actual environment rather than a generic package rate.
What if your testers are confronted by security?
Our testers always carry proper authorization documentation that confirms they are performing an approved security assessment. If confronted by security personnel, they will present the authorization and follow the agreed procedures to avoid confusion or disruption.
How long does a physical penetration test take?
A typical single-site engagement takes one to two weeks from initial reconnaissance through to reporting. Multi-site engagements or those combined with social engineering testing usually take longer, depending on how many locations are in scope.
